SUMMARY: To some it's May Day, to others it's the European tradition of Walpurgisnacht-- in The World, we have both for you! There's no dungeons to raid or items to collect this go around, just stop by for free food, bonfires, and maybe some reward items just for your time.


[ A message beeps on everyone's devices the night of the 30th, nearing midnight. Any heavy sleepers or goody two-shoes may miss out on The World's first bonfire, but it probably won't be the last. The message is simple: an invitation to Δ Roaring Midnight's* Old World for good food and a midnight celebration for Walpurgisnacht.

And an alternative come 6AM for Δ Endless Sunshine's* May Queen*, if they'd prefer a daytime picnic and a dance around the maypole.

So what'll it be, Players? ]


( ooc: As these are special event areas, some of the words in these do not exist for player creation. "Midnight's", "Sunshine's", and "May Queen" are some of them! There'll be different event items to earn by attending either of these, and you don't need to pick one or the other. Apologies again for the delay, and for the number of event logs! There'll typically only be two a month or so. )

Δ Roaring Midnight's Old World

[ There isn't a monster in sight in this midnight field area. There's fireflies around and three bonfires lit not too far from the warp entrance on the beach, the only sounds being crickets, the crackling of the fire, and the soft roar of the ocean. The stars are out in full bloom and it doesn't seem like there's far to wander-- the entire area is only two islands and the one you're on has the temple on it. There are no plateaus and there's only a faint breeze blowing off the ocean.

All in all, it's a warm night and there's some pretty tasty-looking BBQ foods roasting over the bonfires. Shishkabobs in various styles (shrimp, veggie, beef), German wursts, a pot here and there of different soups with bread nearby, buckets of ice with bottled green soda, juices, teas, and waters, as well as caraffes of hot coffee for the older Players. There's NPCs preparing the food, all in masks depicting witches and golems whether they're wearing them on their face or not. There's even more already dancing around the bonfire, but their movements are a little hollow-- pre-programmed. Why not have a go and show them how its done? Their AIs may pick up on your moves and look a little more lively. Or just have a seat and stuff yourself silly. Or further yet, enjoy the nice night and let the others ring in summer. ]

( ooc: for participating in walpurgis night, everyone will get a loaded tray of leftovers and a mask of their choice! all masks are an equipped accessory that has a 25% chance of inflicting blindness and poisoning enemies. )

[Roy is seated by the fire, looking as cheerful as anyone's ever seen him as he helps himself to food and drink, just generally basking in the ambiance.]

[here's takeshi, standing a little ways behind roy, one hand on his hip and the other holding a kabob on the other. and he's looking so very disappointed at the NPCs dancing around the bonfire.]

[Mia is also trying some of the food, looking on at the celebration in... wonder? nervousness? standing-up-ness at any rate.]

[It looks like she's about to taste the coffee.]

[just beside, Pit is piling an obscene amount of food onto his plate, looking excited but only halfway awake]

Wwwwowwww... the parties here suuuure are something! Though the decor's a little... zzz ... creepy...

[ Rather than entertainment, it's his problems with sleeping that lead Hope here. He's not overly hungry, but since it would be a shame to pass on the offer, the boy settles for a small bowl of soup and chooses a nice spot away from the main source of commotion - it's not like there's anything worth looking at, anyway.

... The music still reaches his ears, though, and you might find him humming the melody. It's oddly catchy! ]

[main source of commotion you say? Sonic's in the thick of things like he usually is and raising hell. Then again, he is... dancing? Breakdancing. Air guitaring? It's hard to tell what he's doing. But after stirring up the crowds a little, Sonic couldn't help but wander around with a wurst in a bun in hand. He couldn't help but wonder if he could get some chilidogs if he asked nicely enough.

But the moment he spots Hope by himself, Sonic couldn't help but wander over to the somewhat lonely looking young boy (not without doubling back to grab a kabab of course)]

Hey! S'no good if you wear a face like that to a party like this. Kebab? [and Sonic holds out the food for Hope, despite the other boy already holding a bowl of soup]

[this guy is really good at showing up unexpectedly, whether his presence is wanted or not, and the sight of a familiar face attracts him easily enough, so it shouldn't be a surprise when he's suddenly behind hope, speaking without bothering with greetings.]

[Hey, vaguely familiar person! The strange green-haired guy you bumped into a while ago shows up, sipping on some tea.]

[ Minako, carrying a plate of food is going about offering them to people. She spots Hope and walks up towards him, about to say something when she hears him hum and stops and decides to hum along as well. ]

Do you not want any company? [ he did seem pretty distant the first time they spoke too. ]

[Link's sitting a little off to the side (there's something about the dancers, he thinks, that are strangely familiar) with a bowl of soup in hand. And while he looks at the green soda idly, he's not quite ready to take that leap of faith to try something that colour. Perhaps after this bowl of soup...

The atmosphere was peaceful. A bit like Ordon, before Twilight swept through Hyrule. It's late though, and while Link's gotten out of his habit of sleeping early and waking early it didn't mean he wasn't prone to dozing off anyway.

and heavens help Link as she stalks over. walking slowly, watching him with ears flattened against the back of her head. slowly...slowly...until she's up to his side and bringing her nose forward. towards the bowl.

[well, you're a familiar face, even in the flickering light of the bonfire. their positions are a bit reversed this time, with link sitting and the king standing over him, but that too feels familiar, and so he's smirking as he nudges the other blond's shoulder gently.]

Is it wise to be sleeping out here?

[Kirino's off by himself, munching on a shrimp shishkabob and sipping on some juice. He's rather enjoying the food, but... it's a little lonely. He doesn't spot anyone he knows right off the bat, so he just keeps to himself.]

[Meta Knight, too curious for his own good, is walltreeflowering to watch what kind of traditions the people of this realm. That flash of pink hair catches his attention, but he tries to avert contact since he knows that boy isn't Kirby.

[Though he was never much for human festivals before, the celebrations are worth a look this time around. He's standing at the side and watching, enjoying small tastes of food. Well, perhaps not as much as most people enjoy food, idly filling his belly while he watches.

He seems quite receptive to conversation, though! It might do him well to learn what the celebration is all about.]

Lu Xun is studying the food curiously, wondering what some of them are. Actually, he's just debating to himself which one to try first... they all seem so weird. ]

Δ Endless Sunshine's May Queen

[ It's a lovely morning field in Endless Sunshine's May Queen, with picnic blankets laid out, pitchers of iced lemonade, and flowering may trees all throughout this shrine dungeon area. The buildings don't lead anywhere, but why would you want to go inside? It's a beautiful day out, and the ribbons around that maypole are just begging to be picked up and woven around the pole. The foods available are more Irish/Gaelic in nature, as a homage to May Day's origins. ]

( ooc: all participants in the may day event will get a ribbon sash accessory equipped with an item that has a 25% chance of inflicting paralysis or burns on enemies. whoever participates in the maypole dance and is the first to reach the pole with the end of their ribbon will be crowned may queen/king and given a never-withering crown of flowers. )

[kaworu is thoroughly enjoying the morning so far, between lovely scenery and nice weather and especially good food. at SEELE's base in germany, the food had tended toward "nutritious but unimaginative", and while his stay in japan had given him a glimpse at how the rest of the world ate, there hadn't been much opportunity for diversity over those few days.

at the moment, he's carrying his plate with him so he can multitask, sampling a bit of everything while looking around some more. the may day poles seem to be of particular interest, and he's fingering the end of one of the ribbons contemplatively. he's read about the background of the holiday and its events before, but the opportunity to interact with what he's learned is always enticing. come bother him?]

[Taiyou's bummed he missed the bonfire night because he was asleep by the time the notice arrived, but fortunately woke up early enough to learn about the morning event! Eager, he arrived to the field right on the dot, 6AM! Doesn't look like the maypole dance has started yet, but he sure is excited for it. It sounds fun! Maybe he'll even have a shot at being may king; but it's not like he needs some crown to be happy, the festival does that all on its own.]

Hey, when do you think the dance is going to start~?

[One can see an obvious bounce in his step. He's really looking forward to it! He should probably finish his glass of lemonade first.]

[ Ada sits in a particular spot in the field, under the may trees. She wasn't quite able to participate in the midnight event -- she was long asleep by then, unfortunately, and Oz probably wouldn't have let her go at such a late time anyway. Still, it was all right, because there was the picnic today.

Holding her plate on her lap, Ada slowly eats, watching those near the maypole dance. The dance hasn't started yet -- but it will soon, and she's excited for it. Her own ribbon sash is neatly tied to her hair in the form of a bow. ]

I wonder what kind of dance it is they dance around the May Pole?

[ to say that the invitation had excited Viki would be a huge understatement. A party! That she could go to! (as fun as adventuring parties seem to be that really isn't the same) But at the same time it seemed strange to go to a party without knowing who would be there so for once Viki actually did the logical thing! She asked someone else to go with her ♥

It's good to have friends. Maybe later they could see if they could figure out a unite attack. ]
