SUMMARY: To some it's May Day, to others it's the European tradition of Walpurgisnacht-- in The World, we have both for you! There's no dungeons to raid or items to collect this go around, just stop by for free food, bonfires, and maybe some reward items just for your time.

[ A message beeps on everyone's devices the night of the 30th, nearing midnight. Any heavy sleepers or goody two-shoes may miss out on The World's first bonfire, but it probably won't be the last. The message is simple: an invitation to Δ Roaring Midnight's* Old World for good food and a midnight celebration for Walpurgisnacht.

And an alternative come 6AM for Δ Endless Sunshine's* May Queen*, if they'd prefer a daytime picnic and a dance around the maypole.

So what'll it be, Players? ]

( ooc: As these are special event areas, some of the words in these do not exist for player creation. "Midnight's", "Sunshine's", and "May Queen" are some of them! There'll be different event items to earn by attending either of these, and you don't need to pick one or the other. Apologies again for the delay, and for the number of event logs! There'll typically only be two a month or so. )

[ Holy crap, dude, you're fast! This earns you a curious stare. ]

That's hardly a reason to dance around. [ optimistic as always. ]

[you sure he isn't just a pig? The curious look flies off Sonic (but he must have noticed, his ears are twitching)]

Whaaaaat? [so dramatic] You don't need a reason to do all sorts of things! Like enjoying yourself at a party or running around or helping friends out! Yeesh, s'not like there will be serious ramifications for disobedience or something.

[ Watch him hold onto the bowl of soup for the dear life, because there's no chance you're getting him go there. Nooope. ]

[ hanging his head ] You might look at it that way... but I don't. Sorry.

[a curious headtilt]

Why not? Duties? Sense of honor?

[ Now thiiiis might be getting a little bit too personal for his taste, so... ]

Um, maybe some other time. [ ... have the most evasive answer ever. ] Besides [ he points at the gathering by the bonfire with his chin; it seems to have grown significantly since Sonic's arrival, bringing replacements for the horrible dancers. ] haven't they already got a full... crew? The new guys seem to know what they're doing, at least.

[Sonic notices the answer and how it wasn't an actual answer. The look he gives Hope says as much. But he brushes it off quickly enough]

You kidding? The more the merrier! And besides, you saw the previous dancers [he uses his thumb to gesture to the fire behind him] No one's gonna laugh at you. Well, much. [a grin] ... No, no one's going to laugh, those guys were pretty bad.

[ fff, not even once such a thought crossed his mind, watching it as far as he can go. ]

[ flailing ] Wait -- n-no! You got that wrong, I'm not into this... kind of stuff. Just noticed it's crowded, that's all.

[watches him flail a little]

How about one dance? It'll help you loosen up and go back to whatever it was you were doing before feeling refreshed!

Seriously, there's no way anyone here can be worse than those guys.

[ aah, why so stubborn? ]

Uh, no, seriously, I'll pass. It's okay. I'm not really trying to prove anything.

[because he's Sonic the Hedgehog! And he has a thing for bugging introverts, really]

Who said anything about proving something?

[he stares Hope down a little longer... Then just sighs]

All right. You get away with it this time. [there's a cheerful expression on his face though] Next time though, you should enjoy yourself more! Because what's the point of going to a party if you're not having fun?

[ that only means he has to work on his dodging techniques more~ ]

... I can't make promises to someone whose name I don't know. [ he glances at Sonic ] I'm Hope.

Nice name! [and there's no teasing, because it is a good name in Sonic's opinion 8( ]

I'm Sonic! Sonic the Hedgehog! [classic pose, smile and a wink] Or well, I'm suppose to be. This place... [he shakes his head in an "oh you" sort of gesture]

[ Good! We'd better not go there. ]

Eh? [ no, he doesn't quite follow ] What do you mean, supposed to be?

It means that this place decided that it just couldn't handle ~~Sonic physics~~ me. I'm suppose to be a pretty awesome hedgehog...

But apparently fangirls run this joint? [confused shrug]

Wait, are you serious?

[ the boy blinks ]

Well, uh... [ that's freaking weird, dude. ] you do look pretty human to me.

[he points to his ears]

These aren't just for show. [smiles] But don't worry about it. It's not everyday you get to meet a supersonic hedgehog but at least now you can say you have met one!

[ He's seen a lot of similar accessories in town, so he didn't really pay too much attention to the ears - but now that Sonic mentioned it, could it be that those people also were...

. . . well.

It makes him smile, though, the response and the ridiculousness that it conveys. ]

That's one way to look at it. [ a snort. ] Another thing to add to the list.

Awesome! Finally got you to crack a smile. I was beginning to wonder what I had to do to get you to lighten up a bit. [laugh]

[ Hope, on the other hand, is awfully silent, because you did not just -- ]

[ feeling really stupid, too. ]

So that whole talk about being a...

[a frown, then he pokes Hope's cheek]

C'mon now. I'm not gonna lie about myself. That's not the type of 'hog I am. What I said about being a hedgehog? Totally true.

[a grin] The smile was a bonus for. You should do it more, before your face gets stuck in a perpetual scowl.

When I'm not...

[ this is when he feels his lips form a pout, one so awkwardly clashing with his statement that he ends up biting his tongue.

It's a lesson learnt, though, and his features soften. ]

[ quietly ] ... Um, sorry. I believe you.

Hey, don't worry about it. [he waves] It sounds like you've been through a lot so I can't blame you for being suspicious.

But don't be so serious! You might miss something if you stay uptight like that.

[ he won't address it, but he's grateful for these words. More than you'd imagine. ]

Like dancing?

[ His tone makes it clear that he's still nowhere near agreeing on the offer, but there's a tiny smirk to go along with it. Okay, maybe he's not too fond of being called uptight, but he'll let that go. ]

Hey now! It's a great way to unwind! [and Sonic does a quick little six-step to show off before hopping back to his feet]

... Right, right.

[ he chuckles, observing the little show (and backing away slightly, because, um... don't wanna get hit!). ]

They should hire you.
