SUMMARY: To some it's May Day, to others it's the European tradition of Walpurgisnacht-- in The World, we have both for you! There's no dungeons to raid or items to collect this go around, just stop by for free food, bonfires, and maybe some reward items just for your time.


[ A message beeps on everyone's devices the night of the 30th, nearing midnight. Any heavy sleepers or goody two-shoes may miss out on The World's first bonfire, but it probably won't be the last. The message is simple: an invitation to Δ Roaring Midnight's* Old World for good food and a midnight celebration for Walpurgisnacht.

And an alternative come 6AM for Δ Endless Sunshine's* May Queen*, if they'd prefer a daytime picnic and a dance around the maypole.

So what'll it be, Players? ]


( ooc: As these are special event areas, some of the words in these do not exist for player creation. "Midnight's", "Sunshine's", and "May Queen" are some of them! There'll be different event items to earn by attending either of these, and you don't need to pick one or the other. Apologies again for the delay, and for the number of event logs! There'll typically only be two a month or so. )

These aren't just for show. [smiles] But don't worry about it. It's not everyday you get to meet a supersonic hedgehog but at least now you can say you have met one!

[ He's seen a lot of similar accessories in town, so he didn't really pay too much attention to the ears - but now that Sonic mentioned it, could it be that those people also were...

It makes him smile, though, the response and the ridiculousness that it conveys. ]

That's one way to look at it. [ a snort. ] Another thing to add to the list.

Awesome! Finally got you to crack a smile. I was beginning to wonder what I had to do to get you to lighten up a bit. [laugh]

[ Hope, on the other hand, is awfully silent, because you did not just -- ]

[ feeling really stupid, too. ]

So that whole talk about being a...

[a frown, then he pokes Hope's cheek]

C'mon now. I'm not gonna lie about myself. That's not the type of 'hog I am. What I said about being a hedgehog? Totally true.

[a grin] The smile was a bonus for. You should do it more, before your face gets stuck in a perpetual scowl.

When I'm not...

[ this is when he feels his lips form a pout, one so awkwardly clashing with his statement that he ends up biting his tongue.

It's a lesson learnt, though, and his features soften. ]

[ quietly ] ... Um, sorry. I believe you.

[greaterspeed]

Hey, don't worry about it. [he waves] It sounds like you've been through a lot so I can't blame you for being suspicious.

But don't be so serious! You might miss something if you stay uptight like that.

[brightfuture]

[ he won't address it, but he's grateful for these words. More than you'd imagine. ]

Like dancing?

[ His tone makes it clear that he's still nowhere near agreeing on the offer, but there's a tiny smirk to go along with it. Okay, maybe he's not too fond of being called uptight, but he'll let that go. ]

[greaterspeed]

Hey now! It's a great way to unwind! [and Sonic does a quick little six-step to show off before hopping back to his feet]

[brightfuture]

... Right, right.

[ he chuckles, observing the little show (and backing away slightly, because, um... don't wanna get hit!). ]

They should hire you.

[greaterspeed]

Bring some life to their parties, right? [laugh] But I'm not really the type of person who sticks around for jobs...

[brightfuture]

That could get old too fast, huh?

[ The feeling of uneasiness makes it return. Setting his food to the side (the soup has got beyond cold at this point, oops), Hope leans backwards slightly, keeping his eyes fixed at some unknown point in the distance. ]

I... I wonder how long we'll be stuck here.

[greaterspeed]

[laugh] I'm just a guy who loves adventure!

[Sonic seems to think about this] Dunno. Never really got a 'this is how long you'll be staying here!' notice whenever I travel to a different world.

[brightfuture]

... So you've been through this before?

[ You'd better not be pulling his leg, mister! ]

[greaterspeed]

Well yea! I happen to be a well-traveled hedgehog. Lemme just say though, the trips back were bumpy as all out.

[totally serious! Though it's hard to tell with how nonchalant or flippant Sonic can be]

[ He's won enough credit for Hope to believe him, but the line draws closer and closer-- ]

Uh, bumpy or not, that's... [ weird? impressive? amazing? ] I dunno, [ exactly! ] but you think you could get out of here if you really tried?

[greaterspeed]

No, see, the last couple of times I got out of Maginary World, the Arabian Nights and Camelot, I had help. This time, I'm kinda up the creek without a paddle. [he shakes his head regretfully. Not even a Chaos Emerald to warp with... Man]

[brightfuture]

Maybe... m-maybe you haven't looked around careful enough? There must be something...!

[ Don't ask what's with the sudden excitement. Could it be hoping that you'll generously remember that one silver-haired kid who gave you wonderful advice once you've found the exit...? ]

[greaterspeed]

'Where there's a will there's a way'! And all that.

So what say you? Wanna come along for the ride too? [he grins. YUP, turning this around to rope you along. C'mon, Hope, there's no way this could go wrong. Sonic is the Fastest Thing Alive. Nothing could possibly go wrong]

[ A nice and clear definition of the ride mentioned (and the consequences that follow) would be more than welcome, though. Let me guess...

He's not getting one, is he? ]

Help you look? For that... [ he scratches his head (thoughtfully!!) ] thing? What are you searching for, anyway?

[ Because he figured it wouldn't be just a regular door with a giant neon exit sign plastered above it; ss much as he hoped it would be the case. |: ]

No idea. [he smiles with a shrug] Like I said, I had help the last few times. This time it's kinda like... Hm.

Well, it's probably gonna take a while - y'know how many fields there are out there, right? - and it's probably not going to be easy, but it's something. Better than just sitting around, right?

[the most reassuring thing. Knowing that Sonic had zero clues as to what it is they needed to find to get out of here. GOOD JOB, SONIC, GOOD JOB]

[brightfuture]

[ So even offering his humble self as a searching slave partner doesn't count as help~? Disappointing. ]

So you're just as lost as we all are. [ letting out a small sigh, he leans back on his hands. ] ... It's like you said though. Something. If we make our move, then we'll be able to say that at least we... at least we've tried.

[ this, at least, is what he's been constantly telling himself. ]

[this isn't your home turf, Hope. 8( Sonic means someone on the inside if you will]

A bit, but I've got my feet under me and that's all I need.

[he smiles at Hope] That's the spirit. But next time, don't say it in such a defeated tone. C'mon, chin up! Or else I'm pushing you out into the dance circle for real. [there's a mischievous light in his eyes but Sonic wouldn't actually do something like that.

Y-you wouldn't do that!

[ Neither now nor ever, right? ... Right? Even Hope has to admit it's a convenient derail, though, his voice ringing with amusement as he lifts himself from the ground. ]

[ and then places a hand on his hip, because a good pose is the first step to victory~! ] ... We can make it.

[greaterspeed]

Wanna try that theory? [his grin grows wider. And when he sees Hope's second try, Sonic winks and gives the Harvest Cleric his traditional thumbs up]

Not bad! I'd give that an A for effort.
