SUMMARY: To some it's May Day, to others it's the European tradition of Walpurgisnacht-- in The World, we have both for you! There's no dungeons to raid or items to collect this go around, just stop by for free food, bonfires, and maybe some reward items just for your time.


[ A message beeps on everyone's devices the night of the 30th, nearing midnight. Any heavy sleepers or goody two-shoes may miss out on The World's first bonfire, but it probably won't be the last. The message is simple: an invitation to Δ Roaring Midnight's* Old World for good food and a midnight celebration for Walpurgisnacht.

And an alternative come 6AM for Δ Endless Sunshine's* May Queen*, if they'd prefer a daytime picnic and a dance around the maypole.

So what'll it be, Players? ]


( ooc: As these are special event areas, some of the words in these do not exist for player creation. "Midnight's", "Sunshine's", and "May Queen" are some of them! There'll be different event items to earn by attending either of these, and you don't need to pick one or the other. Apologies again for the delay, and for the number of event logs! There'll typically only be two a month or so. )

Mm. Were you curious? [he switches his plate to the other hand so he can hold the ribbon out to the blond boy.] It is used in a traditional dance to celebrate the holiday. Each person involved takes one of these, and they dance around the pole, intertwining the ribbons around it in the process.

Yes, it's good to know what is actually going on, right Mister? [ Sorry dearest angel, it seems that you will feel old for a bit longer. Also, Oz is definitely eyeing that ribbon but makes no attempt at actually reaching for it. He does seem really curious however. ]

From what I have read, the holiday originated from a pagan ritual. The pole was a phallic symbol, and the surrounding celebration was in honor of a god of fertility.
