SUMMARY: There's a fishing tournament being talked about around Mac Anu and Lumina Cloth. Do you have what it takes to be the Grandmaster Fisher?! ... But before that, there's bait to be found!

There's a buzz in the plaza and quite a few posters put out. It seems that with the dog days of summer upon everyone, it's also time to partake of a typical summer activity... Fishing! On the posters strewn throughout the Root Towns are the keywords ΔDelicious Unlimited Ocean. Once there, they'll be greeted by the sight of several islands all connected to a larger, 'main' island where the GMs are situated. Right in front of the Chaos Gate too, so there's no missing them. Good thing too, because they're handing out the fishing rods you need to complete this quest!

... But no bait?

A quick inquiry will net players the answer; defeat monsters to earn bait in order to catch fish for the salmon bake later! Okay, so maybe it wasn't a salmon bake but grilled fish does smell sound like a nice incentive right? Five of the islands branching off the main one has a small sign in front that indicate which levels they'll find there, starting from level 1 through 10 up to level 41 through 50 for the most daring. There's space all throughout the islands that seem to be designated 'safe spots' where one can start fishing without worrying about getting ambushed.

Go forth and catch that elusive Halibut for dinner!

[ooc: Okay, 2 things.

1) Event extended because Life hates your mods. 8'( Sorry this came up so late, folks.

2) All right! There are all sorts of fishes, but the fishes you'll be catching are of the monster variety. The dropped item will be a normal fish (re; salmon, halibut, tilapia, etc)! There are complimentary summer/beach costumes for all who participate and... quirky(?) fishbone/seafood themed weapons for everyone who catches a fish.

And before anyone asks, yes. Even that tiny little smelt can potentially net you a gigantic Broadsword]

[Undeterred by her new blue tankini, Shinon is going after level 41~50 monsters like a boss. While she's definitely managing on her own, the going can go a bit slow with some of the tougher beasts. Help may be more appreciated than she tends to let on.

As for the fishing... well, she's used to laying in wait while sniping, so there's no question she's still got her focus even as she sits there in anticipation of a bite. Still, it might be nice to have someone around to chat with in the meantime, yeah?]

[Roy remains baffled that Shinon has managed to get ahead of him, but that certainly doesn't stop him from accompanying her in general. After all, strategy and execution can succeed where raw numbers are just a smidge below.]

That being said, he's perfectly confident in his own swim trunks, but... what on earth is she wearing?]

I recognize this is among worst questions I could possibly ask, and that my comedic suffering will probably result from asking it, but... How old are you?

Shinon. [He walks up to her wearing his light brown trunks and a plain white tee. He also appears to be carrying something wrapped in what looks like tin foil. He plops down next to her, doing his best not to make noise that might scare away the fish.]

Any bites?

Not yet.

[She shifts her gaze to him for just a moment to acknowledge his presence. And then... well, she meant to look back to her line, but her attention is drawn by that tin foil.}

...What is that?

[He opens up the tin foil revealing some grilled salmon on a stick.] I caught them earlier, though I only managed to catch two. Better than nothing though, you want one?

[over in the level 21-30 there's a blue haired Twin Blade flipping out]

Fishing? Fishing!? I thought we were pass that bass fishing part of my career, do I look like Big to you guys? Nnnnngh....

[there's a withering look directed at the fishing rod in his hand before he tosses it back into his Relic and starts fighting the nearby monsters instead]

Toryaaaaaaaaaa!!!

[It's nice to be willing to go in guns blazing, but fishing with Sonic might just not end very well. 'Patience' doesn't really exist in his dictionary]

[She's obtained her bait and started looking for a less crowded safe spot when she sees Sonic running around. She's not saying anything, but she's definitely giving him one of Those Looks again.]

[meanwhile, he's still flipping his tackle box and kicking some monster butt while muttering darkly. Strangely enough, Sonic seemed to be pretty knowledgeable of fishing terminology.

... His grasp of how they apply to the actual act of fishing might be a bit more questionable.

It takes the blue Twin Blade a moment to figure out he's being stared at. Have some waving from Sonic, Shinon!]

[She gives a very small wave in return, stepping a little closer for more ease of communication.]

...Aren't you going to fish at all?

[He is quite sad he's stuck with the level 15-20 monsters, but he won't be deterred. He'll be at it for some time, gathering up bait.

When he's finally fishing, he'll be the icon of patience. After all, if he could still be patient enough to wait for his rival to grab a god damn sword as his ship is falling out of the sky before finally starting the fight, he can spare some patience to catch fish.

He might have gone overboard on how much bait he's getting/got...]

[Ryusei was already in knee high water in a pair of light brown trunks, keeping perfectly still as he waits for a fish to bite on his line. He looks like he's asleep from the looks of it, but if one looks closer you would find he's in some kind of trance. His breathing in sync with the ebb and flow of the water. The wind brushes his face but does not move but then, his line twitches, his eyes snap open and within seconds......]

WACHA!

[He pulls out an aquatic enemy from within the water which lunges right at his head but he is much faster. He leans back to dodge the enemy, it's jaws only inches from him, then swings his hip and delivers a powerful kick to his foe launching it towards the shore. He recovers and lands on his feet, his foe however, lies defeated on it's side and then disappears. In it's wake, it leaves a fresh salmon. He smiles as he heads back, pleased by his kill.]

[off to the side is a rather awestruck blond with a somewhat derpy looking straw hat replacing his normally silly sock cap... Actually, it's probably a bit of an improvement- BUT WHOA, RYUSEI, WHAT DID YOU JUST DO?

Link has done a fair bit of fishing in his time... This is the first time he's seen fishing like this though]

[Walks over to his prize tucking away the fishing rod, a smile plastered on his face. He picks it up and examines the fish. He spots Link on the other shore and waves. He points to his salmon, then makes a gesture of what looks like eating practically saying, "I'm going to eat this, do you want some?"]

[there's a wide smile on Link's face at the offer. He'd picked up a couple of smaller fish earlier, but seeing the 'Stinkfish' certainly brought back memories.

He jogs over to where Ryusei is and gives the other a nod]

... I've never seen fishing quite like that.

[Ah, perfect. Faris was getting tired of buying food.]

[And so in the Level 21-30 area she's waiting for a bite. She was used to it; after all even a pirate's life is boring sometimes.]

[Although she may have been getting in over her head, difficulty-wise, as she is on the lower end of this level bracket.]

[Fighting monsters? That's fun. Fishing on the other hand?]

[Currently, Yuuta's in one of the safe spots because there's more to this Quest than fighting monsters but ugh, did it have to be so dull??? He's actually just sitting on the ground, lounging around with a fishing rod in one hand. Definitely not the position someone who's fishing wants to be in though so it might be a good idea if someone straightens him up.]

[Shinon is standing nearby with a resigned look. Fishing is not her favorite activity, she's decided, but it's not exactly difficult, either.]

You're going to be in trouble if you get a bite while you're sitting like that.

Not like there's going to actually be a bite anyway. It's been ages.

[He huffs a bit but he does sit up a bit straighter and grips the fishing rod with his other hand too. Still not the best fishing position but... he tried.]

[Layton was low-leveled, almost to the point of being ridiculous compared to a great many other players. It was quite the shock to find that these... 'levels' had such a large effect on what one could do.

Or maybe it had a lot to due with the fact that Hershel Layton had never encountered the internet before, nevermind a MMORPG]

Well, it is said that patience is a virtue. You might want to keep a better hold of that fishing rod there. One never knows what sort of surprises to expect.

[Even if this man has a point, Yuuta's not going to give in that easily. Instead, he wrinkles his nose a bit as he replies. He doesn't even bother to turn around to look at the man speaking to him.

Perhaps the bait isn't drawing the fishes attention...

How about a puzzle to help you pass the time while waiting for a bite? I believe I have just the one.

[Raphael was seated at the low level fishing island, spinning the new hat he'd received on one finger while idly holding onto the fishing rod with the other. It was nice to get out of that skirt, but this outfit was... Definitely not what he would normally wear. The hat was shapeless and raggedy and everything was short sleeved or slightly frayed.

... But being able to slow down and fish was nice, he supposed...

He catches his hat as it loses momentum to place it back on his head]
