SUMMARY: There's a fishing tournament being talked about around Mac Anu and Lumina Cloth. Do you have what it takes to be the Grandmaster Fisher?! ... But before that, there's bait to be found!

There's a buzz in the plaza and quite a few posters put out. It seems that with the dog days of summer upon everyone, it's also time to partake of a typical summer activity... Fishing! On the posters strewn throughout the Root Towns are the keywords ΔDelicious Unlimited Ocean. Once there, they'll be greeted by the sight of several islands all connected to a larger, 'main' island where the GMs are situated. Right in front of the Chaos Gate too, so there's no missing them. Good thing too, because they're handing out the fishing rods you need to complete this quest!

... But no bait?

A quick inquiry will net players the answer; defeat monsters to earn bait in order to catch fish for the salmon bake later! Okay, so maybe it wasn't a salmon bake but grilled fish does smell sound like a nice incentive right? Five of the islands branching off the main one has a small sign in front that indicate which levels they'll find there, starting from level 1 through 10 up to level 41 through 50 for the most daring. There's space all throughout the islands that seem to be designated 'safe spots' where one can start fishing without worrying about getting ambushed.

Go forth and catch that elusive Halibut for dinner!

2) All right! There are all sorts of fishes, but the fishes you'll be catching are of the monster variety. The dropped item will be a normal fish (re; salmon, halibut, tilapia, etc)! There are complimentary summer/beach costumes for all who participate and... quirky(?) fishbone/seafood themed weapons for everyone who catches a fish.

And before anyone asks, yes. Even that tiny little smelt can potentially net you a gigantic Broadsword]

... His grasp of how they apply to the actual act of fishing might be a bit more questionable.

... There was this phase in my life when fishing was popular... I don't want to go back to bass fishing!

There's way too much waiting involved. How Big even manages to sit around for hours at a time fishing, I'll never know. Maybe it has something to do with him being a cat.

[pause. Oh, right, humans. :I ] Well, it has a lot to do with my world. I used to be a hedgehog myself, see, and so a few of my friends (most of them, actually) also happen to be animals. My lil'bro's a fox for example! So yea.

Big fishes with a fishing rod- [he mimes throwing out a fishing rod, then reeling it back] -but I'm guessing he's good at it because he's a cat. Y'know? Blaze would probably burn my quills off for that comment, but I'mma risk it.

[nods like it's obvious] Technically. Apparently there's something about this place that doesn't allow me to look like I normally am so I kinda have to deal with this.

It's kinda why I have these ears, tail and my hair looks like spines. Y'see?

I... I thought it was just a different race option.

[.........This is throwing her off a bit more than most things, to be honest. A hedgehog? Really?]

Guess this is something unique to my world and any worlds connected to my dimension. How strange is that? [a world hopping hedgehog? More likely than you think!]

Yea! ... Okay, not everyone, but a few of us are. Not really a petting zoo sort of group though, but I love them all anyway.

[this line of questioning doesn't seem to bother him at all]

So there's... humans and talking animals where you're from?

[It sounds like some kind of kid's show...]

Yea! Well, sort of. There are more humans but that's about it. Most people are pretty chill with us and everything.

[y'know, because Sonic's a celebrity. Or something]

It's... normal?

[Pardon her while she wraps her head around this, Sonic.]

In my world and some of the other ones I've traveled to. [pause, then headtilts]

Y'know... It's a lot easier to accept it you just roll with it. [grin] Also why I said a trip 'round the world with me and my pals would be awesome!

I'm trying to. It's just... a lot different from my world.

[She actually puts a hand to her head here.]

It would be fine by them even if I'm human?

Of course. Why wouldn't it be? [a grin]

'sides, you're my friend too. [he crosses his arms and nods, full of self-assurance and when did this decision of becoming friends get made?] If they've got a problem with you, then they'll have to take it up with me!

[his arms drop to his side, and his expression mellows out] ... But honestly? They're cool and you're cool, so I think we'd all get along.

...Just hold the phone for a bit, Sonic.]

[no hesitation at all] Of course!

[tank_sniper]

Even though you hardly know me?

[headtilt] So? You don't seem like a bad person.

[wry smile] And yea, before you go on about how you could be totally evil and plotting the destruction of The World and everyone in it and what a lamebrain I must be to be so trustful, I'm gonna cut you off because I've been down that road and back a couple of times already. Yep.

Those were some pretty harrowing boss fights. [laugh]

But yea. I trust ya. Even if you had to do something questionable in your past, you don't seem the sort of person who does something bad just for the sake of it.

["Something questionable" indeed. She'll continue to stare for a moment before shaking her head, not so much out of rejection as it is exasperation.

...But she is a little grateful.]

[laughs again] You kidding? Half of them tried to kill me before we cleared up all the confusion!

Yea. See, when you've got some over zealous friends who let duty come before common sense, sometimes terrible misunderstandings happen.

And the moral of this story is to listen to what other people have to say first and try to throw them off a platform suspended in the stratosphere second.
