event five | Make a Wish

SUMMARY: There's a rumor of an event going around from NPC to NPC. There seems to be quite the party over at Δ Sacred Love's Cassiopeia! Perhaps it'll be a good time to check things out?

Once one makes their way to Δ Sacred Love's Cassiopeia they're greeted first with the sight of a starry sky along with a curtain of bamboo and what looked like a shrine off in the distance. Near a lantern lit path is a table with some calligraphy brushes and paper; there are already paper wishes tied upon the bamboo by NPCs wishing for better armor/weapons or maybe the member address of one of those cute Blade Brandiers walking around.

There's a shrine just past the walkway, lit with lanterns and filled to the brim with food and games stalls. Delicious aromas fill the shrine even as the sound of various games (shoot the star, hoop throwing and the occasional chim petting stall) serve as cheerful background music. There are a couple of branching paths but all of it leads to an exit on the other side of the shrine. At the final gate sits one cheerful looking Flick Reaper who hands out raffles to players regardless of whether they want to keep it or not ('it's all right,' he says, 'the tickets that are thrown away respawn anyway!'). It takes a bit of attention grabbing before he remembers to mention the prize in the raffle; a brand new steambike ready and waiting for a new owner. His raffle booth marks the end of the festival stalls.

Outside once more, the players are greeted with a large clearing and small lake that was previously hidden behind the shrine. With picnic blankets set out it seems that there might be show later on... Perhaps getting some snacks and enjoying some games might be a good way to spend your time before the show. There are, after all, quite a few prizes to be won ranging from simple stuffed dolls and generic items to middle tier weapons and armor as grand prizes.

One last thing; upon walking past the calligraphy table the guests will find themselves dressed in simple summer yukatas instead of their armor. The weather is warm and comfortable and the costume is theirs to keep along with any prizes won!

For everyone participating in the raffle for a brand new steambike please leave a number between 1-100 in your subject header!

To sum up everything; simply participating will net you a new 'Summer Yukata' costume fitted to your character's color scheme and style. Minor prizes at the stalls include generic items and toys while major prizes can range from accessories to armor to weapons (provided you have the skill to best the odds). There will be FIREWORKS to ICly mark the end of the event so no worries about not knowing when this thing is over for the characters. Remembering; backtagging is a-okay! ]

[ You know there is something wrong with your class when a summer yukata looks like an epitome of manliness in comparison to your regular attire. That is to say, Hope doesn't seem to be discouraged by the sudden change despite receiving a quite flashy combination of yellow and turquoise - heck, it's almost refreshing. Complementing the outfit, there's a piece of cloth wrapped tightly (and, upon further inspection, kinda lousily) around his left wrist and a pair of slightly oversized wooden sandals... because making lives harder is apparently a thing around here.

A) Fighting with a boomerang finally pays off at the hoop-throwing stand where Hope spends a longer while, a satisfied smirk plastered all over his face. Well, someone seems happy -- just don't you dare call this childish. He knows.

B) Have a feeling you've seen his face somewhere? On a poster, maybe? He'll be walking around nibbling on sweets, giving you a chance to catch the lost puppy.

Also, no. Don't expect him to be overly excited about it.

C) Sudden mood change. Seeing fireworks brings many painful memories, and should you walk closer, you'll find him curled up, hugging his knees and fighting tears. Let me tell you it's quite a... hopeless battle. The boy doesn't seem like he's seeking company... or does he? ]

[Sonic liked a lot of things that were flashy and fun but he'd always had somewhat mixed feelings towards fireworks. On the one hand, he had to admit they were pretty but on the other hand... He saw a lot of fireworks that were a lot less pretty and a lot more destructive. It's never been something he's thought about.

So, of course, when he spots someone looking as unhappy as Tails used to before he met Sonic, it would have just gone against his nature to ignore them. Without much warning, he just plops himself next to Hope and sits next to him a bit...]

[ Not really! Then again, he probably wouldn't have woken up from his little daze otherwise, not too soon, at least. Crying your eyes out does that to you, making your sight all misted up and annoying and -- ]

[ It's time to put those pretty sleeves to use by rubbing them aaaall over his face... better. Much better - clearer. He still has no clue what you're talking about, however. ]

[Sonic actually reaches into his own sleeve to pluck out some napkins he had stashed there earlier - Y'know, in case of emergency food spills - and hands a couple to Hope]

[ This one gift Hope doesn't reject, although it still meets with some hesitation from his side - having let out a little nod of appreciation, he squeezes the napkins in his palm. ]

It's important to remember things, but you gotta look forward too. [without much prompt (or real care given to their height differences) Sonic reaches over to ruffle Hope's hair] C'mon, what would your friends think if they saw you sitting here like this?

[ Hope values his personal space too much not to react accordingly, so don't be surprised when he jerks his head away at the touch - lightly, but decisively. ]

She'd understand. Lightning -- [ a soft sigh. ] ... s-she would understand.

[ spoken in a calm voice. He doesn't mean to sound reproaching, merely delivering the answer Sonic asked for.

... I know. [ it's no use dwelling on the past, and he's aware of that. ]

[Shinon was just wandering when she caught sight of him nearby. He looks familiar, even though she's pretty sure she hasn't spoken with him before.

...Wait a minute.]

...The poster...?

[ Shinon's voice gets lost in the noise of the crowd; not the curious stare, though. The feeling of being watched makes the boy glance back in her direction.

An unknown face. ]

Um, excuse me?

[Whoops, staring's kind of rude, huh.]

Sorry, I thought I recognized you. Were you the one that weird kid was putting up posters on?

[ The boy responds almost immediately, seeming slightly flustered. ]

I-It wasn't me! I mean -- it wasn't about the real me, just things he made up, so...

[ quietly ]

[She crosses her arms, her expression sympathetic.]

I figured. Talking with that guy is kind of exhausting, isn't it?

Kind of? [ his voice trails into a soft snort. ]

Some people seem to be okay with that, though. [ shrug. ]

[ Why, thank you, not only this makes him freeze, but he nearly chokes on the cotton candy he's holding. ]

[You're welcome. He does have the decency to feel embarrassed mentioning that. It hadn't been quite the words he was trying to form.] Well, err... yes, those. Did your friend find you then?

He's not my friend, [ Hope doesn't even give his words too much thought, they come out on their own as soon as the question pops up. ] and I was never lost to begin with.

[ a pause. ] Just what did he tell you?

That you'd run away at the sight of him and that you're a wet blanket. [A pause.] Though I am not sure how that relates.

[with a caramel apple hanging from her mouth - careful not to actually bite through it and send the snack dropping down to the ground below (that would be such a waste!) she watches him.

[ Surely, said apple gives the whole image a somewhat unconventional feel, but her reaction still doesn't fail to color his cheeks pink when he finally glances in her direction. Oh man! Unfortunately, with the distraction come the consequences. Hope's next throw isn't executed as well as the previous ones, and the teenager misses the target, his lousy attempt landing him the second prize, much to the NPC's entertainment. This... is a rather lame-looking Chim Chim plushie. Good thing the evening's long!

Oh, wait, y-you mean you're still there? A...hahahahah...ha... H-have a sheepish smile? ]

[ Some people use proper greetings...bunnies, however, prefer to tap purses (No Comment!) against heads out of the blue ]

[ Needless to say, not everyone can appreciate the gesture - the (weak) groan is followed by a frown, and (fogged up) eyes dart upwards almost immediately. ]
