SUMMARY: It's the first Quest in The World, just in time for Easter! There's a message awaiting everyone on their Relics when they wake up, so hop to it!

[ You'll see this becoming a theme, Kain unfortunately decked out for the holiday in question while being rather sour about it. He's at his usual spot behind the Quest Kiosk, in his usual blue garb. The only difference is the silver bunny ears perching on his head, one straight with a bent tip and the other rather floppy.

The fluffy tail sticking out the back of the chair was not helping matters any. There's a basket filled with pastel paper easter grass and filled to burst with silver and bronze eggs, intricately designed with pipes, rivets and gears.

The Relics around town chirped, steamed, and vibrated, with the message already on-screen.

HAPPY EASTER （＊´∀｀＊ｂ）━━！！！！ There's eight eggs to be found in every area and dungeon today, so grab a basket by the Chaos Gate and find them all! One has a surprise for you, so bring the other seven to the Quest Kiosk for your final prize!

There's a sign beside the stacks of empty easter baskets detailing the objective a little further, stating that eggs in dungeons will be found no lower than the second floor, and that there's a prize for participating as well.

In the meantime, Kain is kicked back and playing a game on his Relic. ]



( ooc | Please don't forget to tag your characters into the log when you've replied! Here's the low-down on prizes: one of the eggs, when picked up, will spontaneously combust and your character will have a Rabbit Hood item automatically equipped. You can't remove it for the rest of the week, and it will give the character unique bunny ears like Kain, in the character's hair color (but sometimes accidents happen and it may not match!).

Anyone who participates but doesn't collect all the eggs in one area will be auto-equipped with an equally-irremovable Rabbit Tail charm ONLY ONCE! There will be no item duplicates, and all of the eggs they gathered will disappear at the end of the Quest if not turned in for the prize. The Rabbit Tail charm will give them a perfectly round fluff tail to match their ears.

Finally, if you collect all seven (eight with the bunny ears), you'll win a basket filled with fresh hot food, some extra rations, and a number of healing items. More free grub on the house! )

Okay then. Let's separate, but stay within each other's sights, and look for any more obvious eggs. If you get attacked by anything, yell and I'll come help. I'd prefer to find as many eggs as we can before killing or negotiating with anything to get them, but we won't hesitate to defend ourselves.

[At this point he stops just-barely-not-floating and actually hovers just off the ground, following Roy's instructions to stay within sight.]

[ooc: For some reason I remember Macabre Dancers being able to hover. Or maybe that was just Yata's adminhax. And if they can't Al Saiduq hovers in canon so what now]

[Roy's used to people flying -- mostly Vaarsuvius, but new world, new characters. He spares this mode of locomotion just a brief glance before determinedly setting off to investigate some bushes that look likely.]

[It takes a few minutes, during which Saiduq manages to secure another egg, but eventually an odd blue glow can be seen in the distance.]

[He holds up the egg triumphantly for Saiduq to see, as he looks around for his erstwhile party member.] How's it on your end?

[His answer comes to your ears more quietly than one might expect.]

I have one more.

...Huh.

Well, that puts our numbers up nicely! But I'm starting to worry the other ones won't be so easy to find.

Perhaps. However, I trust that we will be able to.

[after all not ten minutes ago you found me, borderline invisible...]

[Never underestimate the powers of a d20 roll!]

Let's be sure to check holes and heights as well as just on the level ground. [He squints as he peers around, straining to spot more.]

[There are several barrels and a tree up ahead.]

[greatcleavage]

I don't know about you, but those barrels just scream "ambush" to me.

[He draws his sword to advance cautiously.]

How are you at fighting?

[eightofseven]

I will be able to survive combat. Lead on.

[Unlike the Shining One or his friends, I have no need of a cell phone to cast spells...]

I hope that's a dramatic understatement.

[Well, no time to worry about that now. Roy advances forward to cautiously prod the barrel with his sword.]

[The barrel breaks open and reveals an item.]

[greatcleavage]

Huh.

I didn't expect that, but in retrospect I really feel I should have at least considered the possibility.

Even I have seen things I could never have predicted, Roy Greenhilt.

[And this is coming from a timeless extraplanar being.]

What really annoys me is that Elan would've guessed it right off. [Grumbling, Roy knocks open the other barrels first, before picking up the item. Gotta be careful of traps.]

...I see. You have great confidence in your friend, then.

[oh hey, there was an egg in one of those barrels.]

I don't know about confidence, but I do know Elan has an odd and very effective grasp of genre and narrative conventions, no matter how at odds with reality they are.

For example, I didn't even question the barrels sitting out here...

[Roy scoops up the egg triumphantly!]

[Narrative conventions? The world doesn't work that way. Not Polaris' world.]

Like having a long-lost evil twin, for example. He handled that a lot better than I would have because it made for a great story.
