event six | catch that thief!

CHARACTERS: ALL ([community profile] holyrelic)
DATE: Aug. 21-23 22-24
RATING: PG
SUMMARY: There's a thief in our midst! Find his lair and teach him a lesson about how one should never take what doesn't belong to them!

For a few days now there have been irate NPCs throughout Mac Anu and Lumina Cloth. Someone has been stealing treasured artifacts and personal belongings out from underneath people's very noses! Informants throughout The World have finally pinpointed where the elusive thief's hideout is situated. It seems that, with much digging and what the NPCs report as a valiant sacrifice of one of their own, the thief's den is located deep within ΔChoosing Fortune's Phantom. Seems simple enough...

But what thief leaves his home easily invaded by outsiders?

Once inside the cave, players will find that the always useful Fairy Orb item is blocked and unusable. Many of the treasure chests wind up being filled with tricks and few treats while traps (of the spiked, spotlight and pit-that-returns-you-to-the-room-entrance variety) and monster guards make navigating this dungeon a bit more difficult than normal. But that's nothing for our intrepid adventurers, isn't it?

The Phantom Thief awaits you on the bottom most floor, along with the treasure he's taken. Show him exactly what you're made of!

[ooc: There will be separate threads for the dungeon crawling and the boss fighting. The Boss does respawn after a while, so this isn't some 'One Sin' one time exclusive kill. Winning this will net you some fantastic booty and a rare armor that periodically allows the player to counter with a confusion attack.]

[so this one is the sort of Phantom Thief that would walk around in his usual disguise that people can recognize and leave his home practically unguarded. SO MAYBE PHANTOM R IS JUST A LITTLE MAD THAT SOMEONE SEEMS TO BE TRYING TO MUSCLE IN ON HIS GIG but it's not as if he stole things just for the sake of stealing things. Oh no, his father taught him better than that!

... But being such a low level spellcaster, it'd probably be better if he partied with someone. If only Fondue were here...]

Hey! [on the inside, he's irritated as all out. On the outside, he looks as cheerful as ever when he walks up to a passerby to ask;] How about teaming up?

[UTTERLY SHAMELESS]

[Since Meta Knight is about HONOR AND CHIVALRY, of course he's going to go after this mysterious thief.

Because no one knows what it's like to be wrongly chased down for a crime they didn't commit like he did, and that makes his opinion on thieves that much more skewed.

So when Raphael comes up, the answer is almost immediate.]

Yes.

[Shinon's okay with sneaking about, since she's rather used to it from the BoB tournament alone. Her bayonet makes short work of the smaller ones oftentimes before they even notice her, but...

Some of the higher leveled ones could get troublesome if she gets cornered.
]
elucidator: (025 ¤ if i try to catch you here)

[ he wasn't sure if he were lucky or unlucky, to arrive in the middle of something that seemed akin to an event. it was probably the former. regardless of the fact that he wasn't as prepared as normal however, he found himself showing up anyway.

in any case, it is fortunate that he's pretty used to sneaking around! he will put in more effort than usual to be stealthy however, seeing as he was still at a low level. anyone he runs into or brought with, he'll try to help them out if he can and/or if they need it. ]

[Well, if anything, Celica was hoping that she'd be able to help Kirito out! You know, with her healing and all. I'm not sure just how helpful she's being though, considering how she's... not that used to sneaking around at all. Or maybe she's just really bad at it.

...Probably the latter. Sorry if her steps aren't quiet enough..!]
elucidator: (023 ¤ you turn away)

[personal profile] elucidator 2012-08-25 05:38 am (UTC)(link)
[ it's not so much of an issue for him, since he doesn't mind working at a slower pace and guiding her along. despite making the whole thing slightly more challenging, Kirito couldn't deny that it helped to boost the fun level. ]

You're doing pretty well so far. [ of course, he says this in a quieter tone than usual. they hadn't attracted any monsters so far, so that was a good sign...! ]
suckswithmaps: (13. c'mon.)

[personal profile] suckswithmaps 2012-08-25 05:52 am (UTC)(link)
[Well at least there's that! She smiles upon hearing the compliment.]

Ah.. thanks! I sure hope so... [She's being sure to keep her own voice down as well. Though they hadn't run into anything yet, it's still better to be safe than sorry, so...!] You sure seem used to this though, Kirito.
elucidator: (055 ¤ an imprisonment for life)

[personal profile] elucidator 2012-08-25 06:33 am (UTC)(link)
[ Kirito was wondering when the question would sprout up, so being ready for it allowed him to answer her without a hitch. ]

This isn't my first time playing a game like this, so if it didn't seem that way I'd be worried.

[ it's kind of a relief that being experienced didn't warrant a negative reaction like it did back in SAO. ]
suckswithmaps: (19. doesn't matter where.)

[personal profile] suckswithmaps 2012-08-25 06:56 am (UTC)(link)
[Ooooh. That catches her interest a bit..!]

Ohh, really? Games in these manner, or on computers and game consoles?
elucidator: (054 ¤ a life without you is like)

[personal profile] elucidator 2012-08-28 08:09 am (UTC)(link)
Games like this, yeah. I think they're given a different name in this world, though. But it makes sense anyway, since it definitely doesn't seem like they're invented by the same people.
suckswithmaps: (02. things have been.)

[personal profile] suckswithmaps 2012-08-30 02:22 am (UTC)(link)
Oh wow... I'd imagine so! And considering how so many people have been brought here from completely different words, it's a little hard to imagine that someone had to have invented this game... I wonder if he would have done it through some sort of magic, rather than technology..? [Yeah she's just... rambling here...]

What kinds of names are they given in your world, Kirito?
elucidator: (073 ¤ you know how i was)

[personal profile] elucidator 2012-09-06 05:57 am (UTC)(link)
... Hm. [ there's a bit of musing, on his end. even if he might not be saying much as she talk, he is listening quite attentively. ] Does magic exist in your world? If it does, then it's plausible.

Huh? Oh, they're called virtual massively multiplayer online role playing games. Or a VMMORPG for short. Technological advancements allowed them to become a reality — magic and everything related to it only exist in fantasy-type media, where I'm from.
suckswithmaps: (23. as long as.)

[personal profile] suckswithmaps 2012-09-07 12:49 am (UTC)(link)
[She nods.] It does! Though it's not very common. I can use it, actually.

VMMORPG...? I think I've heard of MMORPGs before, but nothing like that. They sound amazing though!
elucidator: (064 ¤ have turned their backs)

[personal profile] elucidator 2012-09-08 06:25 am (UTC)(link)
... Really? [ his interest is immediately piqued! ] What kind of magic could you do?

[ in all honesty, he can imagine her being a support-type character like she was here -- but she wasn't from a game! thatt lie of thought was silly. ]

And they really are amazing. [ amazing enough to be capable of almost substituting for the real world. ] I'd ask you what year you're from right about now, but the magic thing makes it obsolete. In any case, at least you're practically experiencing one now.

[ and without the biggest risk, he adds in his mind. ]
suckswithmaps: (11. time is on.)

[personal profile] suckswithmaps 2012-09-08 07:09 am (UTC)(link)
Ah... It's the same as I do here, basically. I'm a healer. [So... yep, still a support-type character! And you're right, she's not from a game; she dies in the game right as it begins-- I mean. Cough.]

As for the year, well... that may actually help, possibly... Magic is really rare in my world, and a lot of people don't know about it. There have been many who didn't even believe that I could use it myself, since they didn't think it actually existed.

But either way, I guess even though I'm away from home, on the bright side, it is pretty neat that I get to experience one of these games here.. [maybe..]
elucidator: (078 ¤ i need you)

[personal profile] elucidator 2012-09-08 07:47 am (UTC)(link)
[ ... wow. really. he stares at her for a second longer than what's natural, before looking away. what an unfortunate fate though... ] ... Yeah? Is there anyone who can shoot fireballs; things like that?

[ he's trying to imagine walking down the street back at home and someone firing one out of nowhere. what. since where she had come from seemed quite modern as well. . . ]

—That makes a lot more sense. [ ... ] Have you ever wanted to be assigned a different class, then? Since you're playing the same role as you did where you came from.

[ he's having just a little difficulty imagining her with anything but a staff, however... ...

being able to be a magic user himself would've been cool, but he had to admit what the system chose for him made everything a lot easier on him. ]

suckswithmaps: (03. a little crazy.)

[personal profile] suckswithmaps 2012-09-09 07:37 am (UTC)(link)
[Smiling widely, she nods.] Yes, actually! I can't really do it myself, but my big sis can, and so can some others. [In fact, Nine was about to use it on Ragna before Celica came here...]

But ah... I don't think I could imagine myself being any other class, really... It would definitely be interesting to try others out, but this is more comfortable for me, I think. It's something I'm mostly used to.

elucidator: (081 ¤ so don't leave me like this)

[personal profile] elucidator 2012-09-09 08:26 am (UTC)(link)
So basically... Aside from the dungeons, warp gates -- all those things, this is a lot like your home then?

[ ... ] I'd offer to let you try equipping my swords, but this game doesn't work that way it looks like.

[ and this probably wasn't the best environment for that. . . ]
suckswithmaps: (24. you are there.)

[personal profile] suckswithmaps 2012-09-11 01:36 am (UTC)(link)
Mmm... Basically, yes. Though the clothing people wear at home is a bit different. [Or well. very different, but.]

That's too bad though... it sounds like it would be fun! Do you think the game would at least let me hold and swing them around playfully...?

[Because clearly if it's playful that'll make a difference right. Or something.]
elucidator: (030 ¤ two steps back)

[personal profile] elucidator 2012-09-12 08:27 am (UTC)(link)
[ That's a given, though... He'd be worried, if in the modern era people had been walking around in mmo-esque clothing. ]

... You know, I've never heard of someone swinging a sword around playfully. Swinging a sword to test it or for practice, maybe, but never that.

Should I be worried about lending one to you?
suckswithmaps: (15. everything behind.)

[personal profile] suckswithmaps 2012-09-16 06:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Well... At least then it wouldn't technically be equipping it, would it? [Maybe...]

You wouldn't have to worry at all though! I'd be careful.
elucidator: (087 ¤ don't go)

[personal profile] elucidator 2012-09-21 12:25 am (UTC)(link)
As long as you make sure you're at least ten metres away from me. I think it's then that I wouldn't have to worry about you anymore.

[ ... though now that he thinks of it, her hurting herself was plausible as well. ]
suckswithmaps: (Default)

[personal profile] suckswithmaps 2012-09-21 04:34 pm (UTC)(link)
[Probably --]

I could do that! Even then though, I'll make sure to be careful at least. Don't worry! So how about it?
mercuryangel: (frustrated)

[She'd heard Isaac and Garet had gotten mixed up with some thieves, and that it was how they met Ivan. They had been able to use their abilities to solve the case before they left town.

Mia's abilities, on the other hand, are not useful in this situation, and she seems to have gotten herself stuck.

Her tendency to not hoard Chim Spheres, while handy in avoiding Chim Assassins, has come back to bite her hard, as her progress stalls in front of one of the doors.]

Trouble?

[Roy is looking like he's seen better days, with a panoply of scrapes, scratches, and bruises decorating his body. He's been disarming traps the fighter way, which is to say, with his hit points.]
mercuryangel: (down)

[personal profile] mercuryangel 2012-08-29 05:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, Roy. I've just run out of Chim Spheres is all.

[but roy if you do that you don't get the sweet loots. Anyway she casts Pha Repth and Roy is back up to full.]
greatcleavage: (sometimes things do go right?)

[personal profile] greatcleavage 2012-08-30 12:32 am (UTC)(link)
Well, as it happens, I may have one or two tucked away, and as it happens, I seem to owe you one now, don't I?

[He gets a sphere out of his inventory with a grin, offering it to her.]
mercuryangel: (thought)

[personal profile] mercuryangel 2012-09-02 10:20 pm (UTC)(link)
...Thank you. Actually, could we stick together? I have the feeling this isn't the last of them.
greatcleavage: (victory and also naked roy)

[personal profile] greatcleavage 2012-09-04 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)
I was trying to imply that, actually. Two together are more than one alone!
mercuryangel: (happy)

[personal profile] mercuryangel 2012-09-05 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
That's good to hear!

[Now then: opening the door. The wheel lock spins, and the light changes from red to green, as usual, before the two sides of the door sliiiiiiiiiiiiide out of the way.]
greatcleavage: (alarmed)

[personal profile] greatcleavage 2012-09-05 01:30 pm (UTC)(link)
[Good meatshield that he is, Roy steps forward to take point and promptly vanishes as the floor on the other side drops out from under him.]
mercuryangel: (shock)

[personal profile] mercuryangel 2012-09-06 03:24 am (UTC)(link)
[She leans over the hole, shouting in case it's too deep for normal speech to carry down.]

Roy! You're all right aren't you?

[W E L P. Ivan's Reveal would certainly be helpful here. It's a miracle she hasn't run into any pitfall traps as it is.]
greatcleavage: Credit: <user name=great_cleavage site=livejournal.com> (sigh)

[personal profile] greatcleavage 2012-09-06 02:25 pm (UTC)(link)
You'd be surprised how used to this you can get after a given period of time.

[Roy's slowly picking himself up off the floor of the pit. It's only 20 feet down, he's had worse.]
mercuryangel: (worried)

[personal profile] mercuryangel 2012-09-08 10:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Can you climb out?
greatcleavage: Credit: <user name=great_cleavage site=livejournal.com> (argh this makes me angry)

[personal profile] greatcleavage 2012-09-10 02:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Looks like. [With a grunt and a scowl, Roy begins clambering his way very slowly and carefully up the side of the pit.]
mercuryangel: (confidence)

[personal profile] mercuryangel 2012-09-11 10:17 pm (UTC)(link)
[Once that's done, they can continue proceeding...]
greatcleavage: (i disagree with your viewpoint)

[personal profile] greatcleavage 2012-09-12 02:19 pm (UTC)(link)
You must be having a lot more luck with these traps than I am, to have gotten down here.

[He's only a little bitter. JUST A LITTLE.]
mercuryangel: (thought)

[personal profile] mercuryangel 2012-09-15 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
[Best luck stat in the game. Although it is a three-way tie with Pure Mage and Paladin.]

Caution also probably has a lot to do with it...

[personal profile] greatcleavage 2012-09-16 12:43 am (UTC)(link)
I'm all in favor of a measured advance, but that doesn't make my Search checks or Reflex saved any higher, I'm afraid.
minetodecide: (Ryusei - badass/angry lvl 2)

[personal profile] minetodecide 2012-08-28 01:12 pm (UTC)(link)
[So here's something you never see very often, or have never seen at all. A enraged Ryusei stepping out of the chaos gate, brandishing his scythe. He looks like he's ready to tear the first enemy he sees to shreds.]

That, BASTARD!

[And with that, he lifts his scythe over his head and rushes into the dungeon. What made him so mad? Could he be one of the victims of this infamous thief?]
