event six | catch that thief!

CHARACTERS: ALL ([community profile] holyrelic)
DATE: Aug. 21-23 22-24
RATING: PG
SUMMARY: There's a thief in our midst! Find his lair and teach him a lesson about how one should never take what doesn't belong to them!

For a few days now there have been irate NPCs throughout Mac Anu and Lumina Cloth. Someone has been stealing treasured artifacts and personal belongings out from underneath people's very noses! Informants throughout The World have finally pinpointed where the elusive thief's hideout is situated. It seems that, with much digging and what the NPCs report as a valiant sacrifice of one of their own, the thief's den is located deep within ΔChoosing Fortune's Phantom. Seems simple enough...

But what thief leaves his home easily invaded by outsiders?

Once inside the cave, players will find that the always useful Fairy Orb item is blocked and unusable. Many of the treasure chests wind up being filled with tricks and few treats while traps (of the spiked, spotlight and pit-that-returns-you-to-the-room-entrance variety) and monster guards make navigating this dungeon a bit more difficult than normal. But that's nothing for our intrepid adventurers, isn't it?

The Phantom Thief awaits you on the bottom most floor, along with the treasure he's taken. Show him exactly what you're made of!

[ooc: There will be separate threads for the dungeon crawling and the boss fighting. The Boss does respawn after a while, so this isn't some 'One Sin' one time exclusive kill. Winning this will net you some fantastic booty and a rare armor that periodically allows the player to counter with a confusion attack.]

That's good to hear!

[Now then: opening the door. The wheel lock spins, and the light changes from red to green, as usual, before the two sides of the door sliiiiiiiiiiiiide out of the way.]

[Good meatshield that he is, Roy steps forward to take point and promptly vanishes as the floor on the other side drops out from under him.]

[She leans over the hole, shouting in case it's too deep for normal speech to carry down.]

Roy! You're all right aren't you?

[W E L P. Ivan's Reveal would certainly be helpful here. It's a miracle she hasn't run into any pitfall traps as it is.]

You'd be surprised how used to this you can get after a given period of time.

[Roy's slowly picking himself up off the floor of the pit. It's only 20 feet down, he's had worse.]

Can you climb out?

Looks like. [With a grunt and a scowl, Roy begins clambering his way very slowly and carefully up the side of the pit.]
mercuryangel: (confidence)

[Once that's done, they can continue proceeding...]
greatcleavage: (i disagree with your viewpoint)

You must be having a lot more luck with these traps than I am, to have gotten down here.

[He's only a little bitter. JUST A LITTLE.]

[Best luck stat in the game. Although it is a three-way tie with Pure Mage and Paladin.]

Caution also probably has a lot to do with it...

I'm all in favor of a measured advance, but that doesn't make my Search checks or Reflex saved any higher, I'm afraid.
