event six | catch that thief!
CHARACTERS: ALL (
holyrelic)
DATE: Aug.21-23 22-24
RATING: PG
SUMMARY: There's a thief in our midst! Find his lair and teach him a lesson about how one should never take what doesn't belong to them!
For a few days now there have been irate NPCs throughout Mac Anu and Lumina Cloth. Someone has been stealing treasured artifacts and personal belongings out from underneath people's very noses! Informants throughout The World have finally pinpointed where the elusive thief's hideout is situated. It seems that, with much digging and what the NPCs report as a valiant sacrifice of one of their own, the thief's den is located deep within ΔChoosing Fortune's Phantom. Seems simple enough...
But what thief leaves his home easily invaded by outsiders?
Once inside the cave, players will find that the always useful Fairy Orb item is blocked and unusable. Many of the treasure chests wind up being filled with tricks and few treats while traps (of the spiked, spotlight and pit-that-returns-you-to-the-room-entrance variety) and monster guards make navigating this dungeon a bit more difficult than normal. But that's nothing for our intrepid adventurers, isn't it?
The Phantom Thief awaits you on the bottom most floor, along with the treasure he's taken. Show him exactly what you're made of!
[ooc: There will be separate threads for the dungeon crawling and the boss fighting. The Boss does respawn after a while, so this isn't some 'One Sin' one time exclusive kill. Winning this will net you some fantastic booty and a rare armor that periodically allows the player to counter with a confusion attack.]

You're doing pretty well so far. [ of course, he says this in a quieter tone than usual. they hadn't attracted any monsters so far, so that was a good sign...! ]
no subject
Ah.. thanks! I sure hope so... [She's being sure to keep her own voice down as well. Though they hadn't run into anything yet, it's still better to be safe than sorry, so...!] You sure seem used to this though, Kirito.
no subject
This isn't my first time playing a game like this, so if it didn't seem that way I'd be worried.
[ it's kind of a relief that being experienced didn't warrant a negative reaction like it did back in SAO. ]
no subject
Ohh, really? Games in these manner, or on computers and game consoles?
no subject
no subject
What kinds of names are they given in your world, Kirito?
no subject
Huh? Oh, they're called virtual massively multiplayer online role playing games. Or a VMMORPG for short. Technological advancements allowed them to become a reality — magic and everything related to it only exist in fantasy-type media, where I'm from.
no subject
VMMORPG...? I think I've heard of MMORPGs before, but nothing like that. They sound amazing though!
no subject
[ in all honesty, he can imagine her being a support-type character like she was here -- but she wasn't from a game! thatt lie of thought was silly. ]
And they really are amazing. [ amazing enough to be capable of almost substituting for the real world. ] I'd ask you what year you're from right about now, but the magic thing makes it obsolete. In any case, at least you're practically experiencing one now.
[ and without the biggest risk, he adds in his mind. ]
no subject
As for the year, well... that may actually help, possibly... Magic is really rare in my world, and a lot of people don't know about it. There have been many who didn't even believe that I could use it myself, since they didn't think it actually existed.
But either way, I guess even though I'm away from home, on the bright side, it is pretty neat that I get to experience one of these games here.. [maybe..]
no subject
what an unfortunate fate though...] ... Yeah? Is there anyone who can shoot fireballs; things like that?[ he's trying to imagine walking down the street back at home and someone firing one out of nowhere. what. since where she had come from seemed quite modern as well. . . ]
—That makes a lot more sense. [ ... ] Have you ever wanted to be assigned a different class, then? Since you're playing the same role as you did where you came from.
[ he's having just a little difficulty imagining her with anything but a staff, however... ...
being able to be a magic user himself would've been cool, but he had to admit what the system chose for him made everything a lot easier on him. ]
no subject
But ah... I don't think I could imagine myself being any other class, really... It would definitely be interesting to try others out, but this is more comfortable for me, I think. It's something I'm mostly used to.
no subject
[ ... ] I'd offer to let you try equipping my swords, but this game doesn't work that way it looks like.
[ and this probably wasn't the best environment for that. . . ]
no subject
That's too bad though... it sounds like it would be fun! Do you think the game would at least let me hold and swing them around playfully...?
[Because clearly if it's playful that'll make a difference right. Or something.]
no subject
... You know, I've never heard of someone swinging a sword around playfully. Swinging a sword to test it or for practice, maybe, but never that.
Should I be worried about lending one to you?
no subject
You wouldn't have to worry at all though! I'd be careful.
no subject
[ ... though now that he thinks of it, her hurting herself was plausible as well. ]
no subject
I could do that! Even then though, I'll make sure to be careful at least. Don't worry! So how about it?
