SUMMARY: I joked about a bunch of horrified level 1-2 people staring at the level for the dungeon before going off and getting e-beers. I was encouraged. Also, I'm starting with prose just because that's how I roll with intro posts, but brackets are strongly encouraged if that's what makes your soul happy.

...and after some stuff which doesn't particularly matter Dirk was staring at the level info for Δ Choosing Superior Offerings. Level 11 temple dungeon? He'd get his ass kicked.

In time he would go back and deal with this issue, go find people to team up with, whatever. But for now? Now? Goddamn.

So he turned to the nearest person who looks plausibly lost, alarmed, bemused, or other such reactions and said, "Hey. I don't know about you but I'm tired of dungeons right now. Know where a guy can get a drink?"

I live in a shitty post-apocalyptic wasteland. Some troll fr- first off, before I begin, do you live in a world which goes by 'Earth'? Just checking to see how much explanation I would have to do.

Just seeing how much explaining I have to do. Basically, an alien troll overlord showed up, took over my planet, and turned it into a post-apocalyptic wasteland waterworld.

My Bro had things figured out ahead of time and set me up with an apartment that wasn't engulfed when the seas rose. The man thought of everything.

But you didn't have any place to go? And how'd he know it was gonna happen?

I'm not sure how he knew, just that he did. If I had to speculate, I'd guess that the man did some research into my...situation and made preparations accordingly.

Huh. Pretty thorough of him.

[Not that she really knows since she's an only child with highly over-protective parents.]

So, what does a guy even do on some apartment in the middle of the ocean?

...build robots. Pester his friends over the internet. There's various ways a man can keep himself busy in the middle of the ocean if he puts his mind to it.

Guess I'd be doing whatever I can get my hands on to beat back the boredom, too. And I thought my parents were bad about that stuff.

[She scowls a bit at the memories that immediately come to mind.]

They treated me like I was some fragile little blind girl who couldn't even walk around her own house without an escort. I even had to hide how strong my Earthbending is from them because it would just make things worse. [Toph shrugs.] I got to run away, though. Go off and teach the Avatar and all that.

[She pauses.]

The Avatar is basically this person who gets reincarnated a lot, and they can use all four elements. Everyone else just has one. They're still born to one specific element, but the Avatar is the only one who can learn the other three.

Sounds interesting. And is the Avatar born just 'cause or because she or he is the forerunner to something more dramatic?

The Avatar's supposed to be some bridge between the physical and spirit worlds. Not to mention be the balance for the rest of the world or something like that.

So pretty much they're stuck cleaning up after the world's mess if shit goes down.

Yep, and to make sure it doesn't happen in the first place. That's not to say everybody loves the Avatar, some people hate him or her. They just respect the station...or not, in some cases.
