SUMMARY: Perhaps it's an April Fool's joke-- surely Saint Patrick's Day has already passed. And yet clovers rain down and the fountains run green regardless. But it's a nice welcome to The World regardless, so enjoy it while it lasts!


There's gold banners strung from rooftop to rooftop, catching the light of the eternally-setting sun and reflecting it every which way. The ground's already covered in a generous amount of fallen shamrocks, with no end in sight. They're in your hair, on your clothes, in your food-- everywhere!

The main fountain (as well as the smaller second fountain in the alchemy district) is running with fizzing green soda, glass mugs lined up along the edges invitingly. New characters will receive one of two items-- in the first half of the week, they'll be awarded a limited edition golden weapon to suit their class, adorned in emeralds. In the latter half (for later applicants), they'll receive a leprechaun hat. The size is entirely up to the player, so it can range from a cute, small hat a la lolita style, or a big floppy hat, or a dapper silk top hat.

Have a look around, meet others, and enjoy the Irish foods offered for free at NPC shops to go with the soda. All items earned are to stay!



There's even a young silver-haired GM dolled up in green silks at the quest kiosk available for questions, although he doesn't look particularly friendly. His body language says to Stay Away, despite his location right in the upper left corner of the town center.

Oh, I get it! Like armour value, right? And the attack value of weapons. [ She considers the fans again, as if trying to discern what its attack stat was. ]

No no, different quality. DR is separate from AC and base attack. Unless this new edition really messed everything up.

It sounds really complicated. [ ... ] I've never used fans before.

They gave you a weapon you can't even use?

...Maybe you CAN use it now. Your proficiencies might have changed.

Hmm, maybe! [ Though she's not too sure what it means. ] Do you know how to use one?

I'm fairly certain those count as exotic weapons, and I had better things to spend feats on.

[inhearts]

I guess it can't be that hard to figure it out! [ Snaps the fans shut; she's getting used to it. ] Oh, I haven't introduced myself yet, have I? I'm Arisato Minako.

I think they use the rules for some weapons... I can't remember what though.

It's nice to meet you too, Greenhilt-san! [ Curious headtilt. ] You know a lot. Are you an expert in combat?

Not to brag, but I did graduate with an MBA from Bash U.

[ Giggles. ] That's an adorable name!

Don't let anyone who attends it hear you say that. "Adorable" isn't very high on the "desired qualities" trait.

Not that Charisma wasn't the dump stat anyway...

Yes. Pretty much every fighter goes for that. As if mental attributes were worthless! "Thog not know how to speak in first person!"

[Judging by how he's clenching a fist, this seems to be a bit of a sore spot with him.]

No. Thog was really that stupid.

Thog is pretty solidly in the 'recurring villain' cast, as was inevitable but still incredibly depressing. The readers like him. They think he's cute.

[inhearts]

An enemy who won't give up, huh. Are they common?

[greatcleavage]

They appear about once a story arc.

[inhearts]

That doesn't sound too bad!

The last time I met Thog I got forced into a gladitorial battle with him that only ended when I tricked him into collapsing a large part of the arena on himself.

So I wouldn't exactly call it good.

[inhearts]

[ Yeah, okay, she takes it back. ]

[Roy starts to speak, stops, and considers that statement for a moment.]

...It's true. To be honest, I'm doing what I've wanted to do all my life. Sure, it'd be great if the world weren't under a threat of doom and hovering on the brink of disaster, but even if it wasn't I'd still want to be out there using my sword and my skills to make it a better place.

That doesn't make some of the things I deal with any less annoying, though.
