event four | can a chest that can't be opened really be called a chest?

CHARACTERS: Any and all!
DATE: 19th~22nd
RATING: PG for foul-mouthed NPCs
SUMMARY: The NPCs around town are spreading rumors of a dungeon chest that can't be opened. If you ask them nicely, they'll give you the area words Δ Choosing Superior Offerings. What you do or what you'll try from there is up to you!

The NPCs around town are busy murmuring to each other and eyeing the adventurers curiously, wondering aloud if anyone in Mac Anu would fall for such folly. Surely not, but who would ever know the root of the story if no one went to look? It spreads through the town like wildfire, this rumor of a dungeon chest that will not open for any who have tried. Some don't know the area words, but they know who will and will forward any eager or curious adventures to them.

Once at the dungeon, however, things are a little different. There are far less monsters to be found-- in fact, hardly any at all. It's a level 11 temple dungeon, with three floors. One needs only to reach the second floor to start hearing voices...

( ooc: As always, be sure to tag your chara name into the log when you reply! If you'd like a mod to NPC the townsfolk or NPCs in the dungeon for you, please just let us know with a subject title holler. :)

The NPC in the dungeon is squat and fat, shadowed in heavy robes. They'll threaten and harangue anyone who comes to them, and summon undead goblins to fight you after a while. Once you've defeated all six, he warps off and leaves the way to a new chest unbarred-- a chest which now opens and has unremarkable items inside. The event itself is the important part, though, and the first of three ongoing events. )

[Curious, Taiyou walked into the dungeon's first floor by himself about half an hour before Tsubaki arrived at the entrance. He's a good level as far as the suggested number is, but he is still a support class, so it wasn't a very wise decision to go without company. Then again, there don't seem to be many monsters around...

So why were the NPC's whispering about this place so much? Other than the silence it's not very interesting at all. Maybe if he heads deeper in?]

[And that's when Tsubaki notices him.]

You there! Do you have a party with you?
glassworkgenius: (confused)

[personal profile] glassworkgenius 2012-07-01 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
[jafjskds! That was more than a little startling, but in retrospect Taiyou should have expected other people around too.]

No, no I don't.

[personal profile] orokamononya 2012-07-01 05:59 am (UTC)(link)
[Jackpot. Found someone!] What do you say to partying together then? It would be less foolish to travel as a pair than on your own.
glassworkgenius: (on the phone V2)

[personal profile] glassworkgenius 2012-07-01 07:40 am (UTC)(link)
[Someone sure doesn't beat around the bush. Taiyou chuckles, taking out his Relic.]

Alright. You are?

[personal profile] orokamononya 2012-07-01 08:18 am (UTC)(link)
Tsubaki Sasuke, a Tribal Grappler. [He doesn't show it, but he's immensely relieved he didn't get rejected. It was a possibility, but then it would require him to look for someone else.

He then takes out his Relic as well, looking at him curiously.]
What's your name?
glassworkgenius: (ahaha~)

[personal profile] glassworkgenius 2012-07-01 09:39 am (UTC)(link)
Good to meet you Tsubaki-san. I'm Amemiya Taiyou: Harvest Cleric! [Taiyou's not the type to turn anyone down on potential friendships! Not that the older boy said that, but "partying" tends to default to "becoming buddy-buds" in his mind. Or any human interaction really, doop.]

[personal profile] orokamononya 2012-07-01 09:50 am (UTC)(link)
[He nods at that, his own way of saying it was nice to meet him too.] Then I will leave myself in your care.

Have you been here that long?
glassworkgenius: (simple smile)

[personal profile] glassworkgenius 2012-07-01 09:55 am (UTC)(link)
[Taiyou beats his fist against his chest with a grin.] You can count on me~!

Hm. I'd say a few months? It's hard to keep track of time when the sky doesn't change color.

[personal profile] orokamononya 2012-07-01 10:12 am (UTC)(link)
Then that means your level would be higher, right? [Huh.] According to your job class, you'd be more of a support type, right?
glassworkgenius: (follow me)

[personal profile] glassworkgenius 2012-07-01 05:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Um, I think I'm around 14 right now, so! Maybe if you're one of the newer people.

[He nods in response to his next question, his smile having just a slight tint of disappointment.] Yup, I can heal and stuff.

[personal profile] orokamononya 2012-07-04 01:34 pm (UTC)(link)
14? [... Wait, that's too high. Even if he was confident in his own strength---] I just have to make sure, but are you fine with partnering up with someone of a lower level. [Prideful as he can be, he doesn't like dragging others down after all. Wouldn't that make this guy his senpai in this place?]
glassworkgenius: (confidence!)

[personal profile] glassworkgenius 2012-07-04 03:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Totally okay! [Said without a trace of hesitation. There are no such things as burdens in this kid's mind. All company is good company~]

[personal profile] orokamononya 2012-07-07 12:53 pm (UTC)(link)
All right, then I will trust myself in your care.

Shall we be off?
glassworkgenius: (excited)

[personal profile] glassworkgenius 2012-07-17 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
We shall!

[As the two start walking along, Taiyou ponders aloud.]

Do you think that chest is really impossible to open...?

[personal profile] orokamononya 2012-07-17 02:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Hardly. There's no such thing as impossible if you put your mind to it.

[Besides, it's a box. There's more than one way to open it.]

There's probably a trick to it no one's ever tried.
glassworkgenius: (that's no fun...)

[personal profile] glassworkgenius 2012-07-22 06:30 am (UTC)(link)
Like... a button? Or dropping it from really high?

[He's still a kid so his train of thought doesn't do complex routes...]

[personal profile] orokamononya 2012-07-22 09:17 am (UTC)(link)
Don't be a fool. If you dropped it really high, I think the contents would also break.

A button might be plausible though.
glassworkgenius: (???)

[personal profile] glassworkgenius 2012-07-22 02:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, right.

[ . . . ]

It must be a really tiny one if no one's found it yet.

[personal profile] orokamononya 2012-07-25 02:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Then the best way to go about it is to find the chest and figure out where it's located.

Do you have any idea where it could be?
glassworkgenius: (idea!!)

[personal profile] glassworkgenius 2012-07-28 10:08 am (UTC)(link)
Videogame dungeons always end at a spacious dead end so... should we just go down a tunnel until it stops? But there might be an upper or lower level first.

The former sounds like a good plan. Anyway, the map will be revealed the more places we visit, right? This way we can always keep track of where we've been.
glassworkgenius: (simple smile)

[personal profile] glassworkgenius 2012-08-06 12:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Does it? [... He never really used it.] That's great to know!
